What is satin silk?
Satin describes the weave rather than the fibre. A satin weave floats threads across the surface, producing a smooth face with a strong directional shine and a duller reverse. In silk that gives a fabric with weight and fluid fall, which suits a lehenga skirt that needs to move.
What colour is the dupatta?
The dupatta is orange net, worn against a peacock green skirt and blouse. Net keeps the orange panel light and slightly translucent, so it layers over the satin without adding weight, and the contrast means the outfit carries two colours without needing more jewellery.
What is the difference between zari and resham?
Zari is metallic thread, so it reflects light and reads as shine following the line of the pattern. Resham is silk thread and stays matte, reading as soft colour instead. This blouse uses both, which gives the embroidery contrast within a single design.
Does satin silk crease easily?
Satin silk holds fold lines more visibly than a textured fabric such as raw silk or georgette, because its smooth face shows any break in the surface. The weave is what causes it: long floating threads leave an unbroken plane, and a crease interrupts that plane sharply.
