Why does satin suit a pre-pleated saree?
Because of the weight. A lightweight fabric lets stitched pleats splay outwards and lose their line, while satin with body keeps them closed and vertical through a long evening. Satin also reflects light down the length of the drape, so the pleats read as defined rather than flat.
How does pink look on a satin ground?
Satin reflects light along the length of the drape, and on pink that shows as a lighter band running down the pleats. The colour is therefore never completely flat as you move, which is what gives a plain pink saree depth without needing any additional print.
What blouse is supplied?
A stitched blouse in fancy net, made to fit up to 38 inch with margin left inside the seams so a tailor can let it out to 42 inch. Net is an open mesh, so it is lighter and more transparent than the satin of the saree itself.
Can I wear this straight after work?
That is one of the practical arguments for the format. There is no tucking, hand pleating or pinning, so changing takes about a minute and needs no help. The pleats are already set into the garment, so nothing has to be judged by eye in a hurry.
