What is zardosi work?
Zardosi is metallic thread embroidery. The thread is worked onto the surface with a needle or hook to build motifs that sit raised above the cloth, so the pattern is felt as much as seen and it catches light along its raised edges rather than flat across its face.
How is zardosi different from mirror work?
Zardosi builds a raised metallic motif that glows softly along its edges. Mirror work sets small reflective discs into the cloth with stitching around the rim, giving hard, distinct points of brightness. This saree carries both, so it has soft relief and sharp reflection together.
Is the blouse included and what size is it?
Yes. A stitched blouse in satin silk in green is supplied, made up to a 38 inch fit with margin inside the seams so a tailor can let it out to 42 inch. Beyond that measurement there is no further allowance left in the garment.
Does a ready-to-wear saree stay in place?
Better than a hand-draped one, generally, because the pleats are stitched into shape rather than folded and pinned fresh each time. A belt is included with this saree as well, which holds the pallu and the pleat line steady across a long evening function.
