What is mirror work?
Small reflective discs are set into the cloth and held down by a ring of stitching around each edge. Unlike a sequin, a mirror reflects a clear image of the light around it, which is why mirror work reads as distinct points of brightness across a room rather than an overall shimmer.
Why are the mirrors described as red?
The owner records the work as sequins with red mirror work, so the mirror elements themselves carry red rather than being plain silver. Against a pink ground that keeps the reflective points inside the same warm colour family instead of introducing a cool contrast.
Does this saree need pinning?
No hand pleating or pinning of the drape is needed, because the pleats arrive already formed and secured. You step into the saree and set the pallu over the shoulder. A belt is included, which helps hold the pallu and pleats in place through a long function.
Where does this saree work well?
A sangeet, a mehendi or an evening reception, where movement and lighting let the mirror work do its job. Mirrors need light to catch, so a well-lit venue shows the saree at full effect, while very soft daytime lighting makes the effect much quieter.
