How is a ready-to-wear saree different from a normal saree?
A normal saree is one unstitched length of cloth that you tuck, pleat by hand, set and pin, which takes practice and usually ten to twenty minutes. In a ready-to-wear saree the pleats are already formed and held in shape, so you step into it and set the pallu.
How long does it take to put on?
About a minute, which is the whole point of the format. There is no hand pleating and no separate draping stage, so the pleats fall identically every time and you do not need another person to help you set the fall before an event.
Is the blouse stitched or unstitched?
Stitched. The blouse is supplied in crepe satin silk in red, made up to a 38 inch fit with margin left inside the seams so a tailor can let it out to 42 inch. That margin is the part worth checking with your tailor before the event.
What is moti work?
Moti is the Hindi word for pearl or bead, so moti work means small beads stitched onto the surface of the cloth. Beside the flat shine of sequins it adds a rounded, textured highlight, so the two together give the saree both reflection and relief.
How should this saree be cleaned?
The listing specifies that the first wash of the garment should always be dry-cleaned. That matters on a sequin and bead surface, because a home wash can pull stitched embellishment loose and can move dye out of a deep red ground before the garment has settled.
