The lehenga and blouse share the same dual-tone taffeta silk and the dupatta is net. Every piece is pastel green. Dual-tone taffeta silk is woven with two different coloured threads in warp and weft, so the surface shifts between shades as it moves. Taffeta itself is crisp and slightly rustling, holding a fold cleanly, and that structure is what allows a raised applique to sit on it without dragging the fabric out of shape. Applique flowers are cut and attached as separate pieces rather than embroidered flat, so they stand off the surface in three dimensions. Cord embroidery draws raised lines around them and sequins are stitched in to catch light between the blooms.
