How is silk different to wear compared with chiffon?
The difference is weight. Silk has body and mass, so pleats stay down, the pallu hangs straight and the drape holds a defined line through a long evening. Chiffon carries almost no weight, which makes it fluid and comfortable but far more dependent on pins to stay in place.
Does silk need many safety pins?
Fewer than a light fabric does. The weight of the cloth keeps the pleats in position and stops the pallu sliding off the shoulder, so a pin at the waist and one at the shoulder is usually enough. Chiffon and similar weaves need considerably more support.
Why does pink look deeper on silk?
Silk has a quiet directional sheen, so light reflects along the folds and pools slightly in them. That gives colour depth and a shift as you move, where a matte weave holds one flat tone. The same pink therefore reads warmer and richer on silk than on chiffon.
Is this saree suitable for a wedding as a guest?
It sits comfortably in that setting. Silk carries enough weight and sheen to look considered at a reception or an engagement, without the elaborate work a bridal saree would have. Gold jewellery is the natural pairing, and pearls keep it quieter if you prefer restraint.
