How many pleats work best in a chiffon saree?
Slightly more than in a fabric with body. Seven to nine is a common range, and the extra pleats give a light drape the weight it needs to hang straight rather than cling. Pin them together at the waist before tucking, which stops them separating through the day.
Why do chiffon pleats not stay sharp?
There is no stiffness in the weave to hold a crease. Chiffon is fine and springy, so folds relax into rounded shapes almost immediately. That soft fall is the reason people choose it, but if you want a defined line, a fabric with body such as georgette suits better.
Is a soft yellow harder to wear than a bright one?
It is generally easier. Soft yellow reads gentle in daylight and does not compete with jewellery or a bright blouse, so it suits morning functions and family events well. Bright yellows demand more attention and can be harder to place at a low-key gathering.
Does this saree need a lining of its own colour?
Not necessarily, but the choice shows. Chiffon is sheer, so the petticoat reads through the drape: a warm cream or matching yellow holds the shade as photographed, while a bright white beneath drains it and makes the saree look paler than it is.
