Why does georgette hold pleats better than chiffon?
The difference is body. Georgette is woven with a crinkled, grainy surface that gives it a little stiffness of its own, so a pleat folded into it stays folded. Chiffon has almost no body, which is why its pleats sit softer and rely more heavily on pinning to hold their line.
Does georgette cling to the body?
It skims rather than clings. The grain in the weave holds the fabric slightly away from the frame, so the drape moves with you without outlining you, and that is a large part of why georgette is so often recommended to anyone buying their first saree for a long function.
Is this orange suitable for daytime wear?
It suits daytime particularly well. Warm shades keep their strength in natural light where cooler colours can flatten, so a haldi, a morning function or a family lunch all sit comfortably. Under yellow indoor lighting the same orange goes a little deeper, which reads well in the evening too.
Does this saree crease badly when packed?
Georgette is among the more forgiving fabrics for travel. The crinkle already present in the weave hides light creasing, and folds that do form tend to relax after the saree hangs for a while. It is a sturdier choice for a suitcase than a smooth or crisp fabric.
