What is chaina silk?
The fabric name as written in the product record is chaina silk. That reads as China silk, a fine lightweight plain-weave silk also known as habotai, but the spelling is not standard and we have asked the supplier to confirm rather than state it as fact.
Is grey too plain for an Indian occasion?
It is underused rather than unsuitable. Grey carries the formality of black without the severity, and being genuinely neutral it lets jewellery and a blouse colour do the work. Paired with a strong accent it reads considered rather than plain.
Which metal suits a grey saree?
All of them, which is part of why grey is useful. Silver and white metal share its coolness, gold provides warm contrast without clashing, and oxidised metal picks up its matt character. That flexibility means you can wear whatever you already own.
What blouse works with a grey saree?
Two routes work well. A matching grey gives a single-tone, contemporary look that suits an evening. Alternatively a strong accent colour, deep red, emerald or mustard, uses the neutral ground as a setting, which is the more traditional approach and reads warmer.
