Is chiffon a good fabric for summer?
It is one of the best. The weave is open, the cloth is fine enough to sit away from the skin rather than clinging, and air moves through it instead of being trapped. In a hot Indian summer that makes a chiffon saree noticeably cooler than cotton of the same weight.
Can I wear a chiffon saree in winter?
You can, with adjustments. Chiffon provides no insulation, so it needs a full-sleeved blouse underneath and usually a shawl or jacket over the pallu. That changes the silhouette, so plan the outfit around the layers rather than adding them at the last minute.
What blouse sleeve length works through the year?
A three-quarter sleeve is the most adaptable, cool enough for warm months and long enough to take the edge off a cold evening. Sleeveless suits high summer, and a full sleeve is worth having made separately if you expect to wear the saree in winter.
Does the zari border behave differently by season?
The border itself does not change, but its role does. In summer, with a sleeveless blouse and minimal layering, it is the main decorative element on show. In winter, once a shawl covers the pallu, only the lower border remains visible, so the drape reads plainer.
