Is this saree heavy to wear for several hours?
No. Chiffon is among the lightest saree fabrics in ordinary use, finer than georgette and far lighter than silk or brocade, and the only added weight here is the zari at the border. Over a long function that difference is the main reason a saree stays comfortable.
Why does saree weight matter so much?
Because the whole load hangs from one shoulder and one point at the waist. A heavily worked silk can carry serious weight, and after four or five hours that becomes what you notice rather than how it looks. A light drape simply stops being a consideration.
Does the zari border make it noticeably heavier?
Barely. Metallic thread is confined to the edge rather than spread across the body, so the additional weight is small and concentrated where it helps: at the hem, where it keeps the pleats settled and stops a very light fabric from lifting as you move.
What do I need to wear with a casual chiffon saree?
Very little. A plain blouse in a colour drawn from the print, a firm petticoat, and a bangle set or small studs. The print carries the visual interest and the zari border supplies the shine, so anything more tends to crowd rather than complete the outfit.
