What is brasso fabric?
Brasso is made by a burn-out technique. A cloth woven from two different fibres is treated with a chemical that removes one of them in the patterned areas, leaving those parts sheer while the rest stays opaque. The design is therefore built into the fabric, not printed on it.
Is a brasso saree see-through?
Partly, by design. The burnt-out areas are deliberately sheer, which is what creates the pattern. It is worn over a petticoat in a matching shade so the transparency reads as texture rather than exposure, and the pleated sections stack enough layers to stay opaque.
Is brasso delicate to handle?
The burnt-out areas are the thinnest part of the cloth, so brasso rewards gentle handling. The care instruction here is dry clean only. Avoid pulling at the sheer sections when pinning, and store it folded loosely rather than crushed under heavier garments.
Where does a red brasso saree suit best?
It reads dressier than a plain printed saree because of the way the burnt-out pattern catches light. An evening function, a festival day or a family celebration all suit it. Pair it with a petticoat close to the red so the sheer areas do not stand out awkwardly.
