What is brasso?
Brasso is a burn-out technique. A chemical is applied to a blended fabric to dissolve one of its fibres in selected areas, leaving those parts sheer while untreated areas stay opaque. The pattern is made of transparency rather than of colour.
How is digital printing different from block printing?
Digital printing lays down fine detail and tonal gradation, so a printed design can carry shading rather than flat blocks of colour. Block and screen printing work in solid areas by comparison, which limits how subtle the design can be.
Do I need a petticoat with this saree?
Yes, and choose it carefully. The brasso areas are genuinely sheer, so whatever is underneath will show through them. A petticoat matched to the teal or to a darker tone in the print will read best rather than a contrasting light colour.
Why use organza as the base?
Organza is crisp and structured, so it holds body rather than clinging. That keeps the sheer and opaque brasso areas defined against each other and lets the pleats stand cleanly, where a soft fabric would let the transparency effect collapse into folds.
When does the brasso pattern show best?
When the saree is held against light or moves away from the body. Because the design is made of transparency rather than colour, it reads most strongly with light behind it, which is why the effect is more striking in person than in a flat photograph.
