What is crepe silk georgette?
Two crepe characteristics combine in it. Crepe has a matte, finely crinkled surface produced by high-twist yarn, and georgette is itself a crepe weave, so the fabric is textured on both counts, with a fine grain and almost no surface reflection at all.
Why is a matte ground good for embroidery?
Embroidery on a matte ground has the light entirely to itself, so every stitch line and raised edge reads clearly rather than being swallowed by surface shine. On a satin the same thread work would have to compete with the reflection around it.
How does this saree drape?
Exceptionally well. Silk gives the fabric weight and a soft natural lustre, the crepe structure keeps it springy rather than limp, and the result falls in soft folds while still holding a pleat where it is set rather than sliding open through the day.
Is the blouse ready to wear?
No, it is supplied unstitched, so allow tailoring time before the day you plan to wear it. The benefit is that you choose the neckline, the sleeve length and the back design yourself rather than accepting a standard cut that may need altering anyway.
How should crepe be stored?
Hang it between wears rather than storing it folded. Crepe holds creases along its grain, and a saree left folded on the same lines for months will show them permanently.
