What is tissue fabric?
Tissue is woven very fine and carries a natural shimmer through the cloth rather than as an applied finish. It is exceptionally light, slightly crisp rather than fluid, and semi-sheer, so a tissue saree holds a defined shape while weighing very little on the shoulder.
How does printing look on tissue?
Distinctive, because the shimmer sits underneath the printed colour and shows through it. The design reads softer and more luminous than the same print would on a matte ground, which is one of the main reasons printed tissue sarees are chosen.
Is tissue delicate?
More so than georgette or satin. It is a fine cloth and it snags more readily, so it wants careful handling around jewellery, watch straps and rough surfaces. Treated with reasonable care it lasts well, but it is not a fabric to be careless with.
Do the pleats hold in a tissue saree?
They hold well, because tissue is crisp rather than fluid. The pleats stand rather than collapsing against the leg and the pallu keeps a defined edge as it falls. That structure is one of the reasons tissue reads as more formal than its weight suggests.
Is the blouse ready to wear?
No, the blouse is supplied unstitched, so allow time with a tailor before the occasion you plan to wear it for. That does give you full control over the neckline, the sleeve length and the fit, which a ready-stitched blouse would not offer.
