Vpnam's Pink Two Tone Satin Silk Ready-to-Wear Saree with Khatli Handwork is a ready-to-wear saree in two tone satin silk, worked with pure handwork khatli embroidery. Saree and blouse are both pink, the blouse is tissue stitched to fit up to 38 inches with a 42 inch margin, and the pack holds one saree and one blouse. Two tone satin silk puts one colour in the warp and a second in the weft. A pink woven this way is never quite one shade: it warms and cools as the light moves across the drape, and the pleats show the shift more clearly than a flat panel does. Khatli work is hand embroidery on a stretched frame. The cloth is held taut over a wooden khatli while the artisan works from beneath with a hooked needle, which allows very fine chain stitching and precise bead placement. The small differences between motifs are the mark of hand work. The blouse is pink tissue, a fine shimmering cloth, stitched to a 38 inch fit with 42 inches of margin inside the seams for adjustment. One saree and one blouse are supplied. A shifting pink with hand embroidery suits an engagement, a sangeet or a daytime reception, where the two-tone weave and the raised stitching both have light to work with.
