What does two tone satin silk mean?
In a two tone weave the lengthwise and crosswise threads are dyed different colours. Because satin reflects light strongly, the eye picks up one thread direction at one angle and the other as the fabric turns, so the shade appears to shift subtly when you move.
What is cutdana work?
Cutdana are small cylindrical beads with cut, faceted sides. Because the sides are cut rather than rounded, they catch light at sharp angles and glint rather than glow. On this saree they sit alongside pearls, beads and sequins, so four different textures of shine appear together.
Is satin silk heavy to drape?
Satin carries more weight than organza or chinon, and that weight is what gives it a fluid fall in broad folds. It is not uncomfortable, but it sits closer to the body and feels more substantial on the shoulder. Pleats fall softly rather than standing crisply away.
Can I wear blush pink to an evening function?
Yes. Pale shades sometimes flatten under artificial light, but the satin sheen on this saree reflects lamp light and keeps the colour alive, and the sequin, bead and cutdana work adds its own brightness. Pearl or rose gold jewellery holds the softness of the shade.
Is the floral pattern printed or embroidered?
The florals are a digital print applied to the fabric, so they are part of the printed surface rather than raised stitching. The raised element on this saree comes separately from the beads, pearls, sequins and cutdana that are stitched onto the printed ground as embellishment.
