What are double layer frills?
A frill is a strip of fabric gathered along one edge and stitched onto the saree. Double layer frills set two gathered strips one above the other, so the border carries twice the volume and movement of a single frill and the outline of the drape reads much fuller.
Does the frilled border make the saree harder to drape?
It changes how the border behaves rather than making it difficult. The frills add volume at the edge, so the pleats sit slightly fuller and the pallu falls with more movement. Most wearers pin the pleats a little more firmly to keep the line clean.
Why is the blouse maroon against a pink saree?
It is a deliberate contrast in the same warm family. Maroon anchors a pale pink drape and gives the outfit definition, which a matching pink blouse would not. The piece is raw silk, which also contrasts in texture against the smooth silk georgette.
How does silk georgette differ from ordinary georgette?
The construction is the same and the fibre differs. Silk georgette is heavier, cooler to the touch and carries a soft lustre under the matte surface. Poly georgette is lighter, cheaper and more crease-resistant but does not have the same depth of fall in the pallu.
