Why is the blouse black rather than grey?
It is a deliberate contrast. A black blouse against a grey saree defines the drape and gives the outfit structure, which a matching grey would not. If you prefer a tonal look, a grey blouse can be made separately and this piece kept for another saree.
What does cord embroidery add to a design?
Height. A fine cord is laid on the surface and stitched down along its length, so the outline stands proud of the fabric rather than sitting flat. That relief catches light along its edge and gives motifs a defined shape you can feel with a fingertip.
How does silk drape compared with lycra or georgette?
Silk has weight, so it falls in a straight controlled column and holds sharp pleats. Lycra moulds close to the body and stretches. Georgette sits between them, light with grain and grip. Silk gives the most formal fall of the three and the most defined pleating.
What lengths are supplied?
The saree is 5.50 m and the blouse piece is a separate 0.80 m unstitched cut in black raw silk, sized for 32-42 inches. The blouse fabric is additional to the saree length rather than taken from it, and needs a tailor before the saree can be worn.
