How is handwork different from machine embroidery?
A machine repeats a motif on a fixed grid at a fixed density, so the pattern is uniform wherever it falls. Handwork places each motif individually, which lets the maker crowd the buttas towards the pallu and thin them across the body where the pleats fold.
Is grey too plain for a party saree?
Grey works as a restrained ground that lets the sequin work carry the saree, which is often more effective than a bright colour competing with the embellishment. A contrast blouse in maroon, emerald or gold shifts the same saree towards festive when you want that.
Will handwork butta placement look uneven?
Slight variation is a characteristic of hand-placed work rather than a fault. The motifs are set by eye, so spacing shifts a little across the drape. That irregularity is what distinguishes handwork from a machine repeat and is generally considered part of its value.
What is included with this saree?
The saree at 5.50 m and a separate unstitched blouse piece of 0.80 m in grey raw silk, cut for 32-42 inches. A petticoat is not included. The blouse piece needs a tailor to cut and stitch it to your measurements before the saree can be worn.
